Hey everyone

Please pray for the youth talk tonight. I am doing quite a challenging in your face talk, which challenges a lot of ways the charge works here – including attacking quite strongly the wealth of the church over here and also the strong nationalism to be found in the church here. Please pray as I feel under prepared as not had that much time and also that I would be sensitive whilst not watering down the message I feel God has given me to share today.

Hello everyone.

Just a bit of an update on the climbing project. This week I have managed to secure a 20% discount on all stock we purchase from Taunton Leisure. This now means they are the cheapest for all stock we are purchasing. If you are providing equipment for the project and are purchasing it from Taunton Leisure you will need to take the letter attached to the climbing project page to the store, or if buying online, will need to follow the instructions on the letter. Please be praying for talks with Ellis Brigham at the moment too.

On a totally different note please be praying as my laptop has decided to die and I have been told because it is an old model it cannot be fixed or will be not worth fixing due to the cost involved and the value of the laptop. This is not an expense I had expected to have to fork out and so if you would be interested in helping at all please do let me know. I need to replace it, preferably with another cheap mac as I am involved in a lot of design and video work with my placement and replacing it with a PC would involve buying new software as well. (There is no real price difference between the two here anyway!)

Things are going really well here, although very tired at the moment and have a lot to do over the weekend – which is four days long because it is carnival here! Pray also for patience as I teach as they are really some of the hardest kids to work with for obvious reasons.

At the moment we have had very little interest in the climbing project and no-one has pledged to buy anything. I feel this is a really worth-while project for people to be involved with, but at the moment we can not start it. It would be great to see this project set-up and running. We originally wanted to see the project set up at the end of this month but this is no longer possible due to the lack of interest. 

If you would like to get involved please see the page climbing project and remember if you are buying one of the items please do let me know before buying it so we don’t double up on items.

Hey everyone

Okay, so the last week has been a little bit crazy. With my first week of teaching and also my first full youth talk in Spanish! I can barely even think in English any longer which is a bit of a problem considering I have an English lesson to take in twenty minutes!!!

Well the first week had its ups and downs. Some days I literally wanted to throw a couple of the kids out the window but fortunately, both for me and for them, I didn’t. English is hard with them as the sounds are so different, and also I would like a lot more resources than we have at the moment, but God will provide what we need.

The youth talk was okay – numbers were quite low, and they were all Christians and didn’t seem to see the point of doing a session on the gospel which was slightly frustrating, but hey!

Still waiting for my visa too – getting a bit bored of waiting!

This week I have classes all week and then I am off the annual church camp for carnival. Most churches seem to run away from carnival here and have their annual church camp. I can understand parts of their reasoning, but it seems a waste of an amazing opportunity to witness and evangelise!!!!

Anyway off to prepare my first class!

Hey everyone!

Just to let you know I still haven’t received my visa yet and it doesn’t look like I will for a while! Everytime I go they tell me another story and another excuse!!

Today was also my first day in my role as English and Maths teacher at the new school set up by Kaya for ex street children. I have to be honest it was really hard – trying to teach in another language to a group of mixed ability kids is really stressful! There is a real broad spectrum of kids in the classes from a 17 year old who can barely to count to a pretter bright 10 year old. Trying to pitch classes is nigh on impossible. Please be praying as I am taking maths every day and English every day bar Friday.

On a totally different note please pray that a problem I had with my bank card gets sorted soon. On Saturday I went to withdraw my rent and money for the next few weeks and the machine took the money out of my account but didn’t give it to me. I am in the process of trying to get the Bolivian cash machine network to deal with it – they are processing it at the moment, but it could well be a couple of weeks before it is sorted.
